Armidale’s Curtis Park will soon be home to a mobile café thanks to a $140,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitment Allocation program.
The funding will be used by Armidale Regional Council to convert a shipping container into a mobile café so members of the community, can grab a drink or a snack while using the park.
“Curtis Park is a popular spot for families with fantastic play equipment in a great location,” Mr Moylan said.
“Armidale Regional Council is further developing to improve the park’s safety and the installation of the café will complement those improvements.
“I congratulate Armidale Regional Council for their successful application in the LSCA program.”
Armidale Regional Council mayor Sam Coupland said the addition of a café was made through extensive community consultation.
“Something that was not part of the original project, but which has been suggested multiple times by playground users, is a café,” he said.
“The Council team took this on board and sought funding to be able to deliver a playground café for our community.
“Thanks to this new funding, families and others will be able to grab a coffee, milkshake, or other treat while they take time to relax and enjoy time at the playground!”
The LSCA program provides benefits to local communities through a range of events, services and programs, playground and park upgrades, and more.
It is expected the café will be installed and operating by mid-2026.
