Delungra’s Anzac Park will soon be home to a host of new features thanks to a $88,000 in funding from the Local Small Commitments Allocation program.
The LSCA program provides benefits to local communities through a range of events, services and programs, playground and park upgrades, and more.
Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan welcomed news the community facility will soon be home to a skate park and new footpaths.
“Anzac Park is a significant part of the Delungra community,” he said.
“It is home to the war memorials and provides a place for both locals and visitors to visit and enjoy. Adding new, all-access footpaths will make it accessible for all members of the community.
“The addition of a skate park will provide a safe space for young people to socialise and engage in physical activity.
“Congratulations to Inverell Shire Council for securing funding from the Local Small Commitments Allocation program to give bolster the facilities at Anzac Park in Delungra.”
Inverell Shire Council’s mayor Kate Dight said the project was something the Delungra community has been requesting for several years and the LSCA program has provided the opportunity to deliver it.
“The project was identified in Council’s Delivery Program and required funding for the project to be realised,” she said.
“This initiative will revitalise the Anzac Park precinct, offering a safe and engaging space for exercise and leisure. The revitalisation of Anzac Park will enhance its appeal as a central community space, benefiting all residents by creating a more vibrant and inviting environment.
“By promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental wellbeing, the project will strengthen community bonds, improve public health, and contribute to the overall quality of life in Delungra.”
